Home Remedies For Pneumonia
Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. A variety of organisms, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, can cause pneumonia.You may experience symptoms like cough, fatigue, chest pain, loss of appetite, headache, fever, and inflammation in the lungs, etc. But with proper medical treatment, the disease is curable. However, some home remedies to get rid of pneumonia are also available. It takes 2-3 weeks to cure pneumonia at home.
HOME REMEDIES FOR PNEUMONIA
1. Vegetable Juice
Drink homemade vegetable juice; this is considered one of
the best pneumonia home remedies. Carrot juice, beet juice, spinach juice and
other vegetable juices (especially those which are rich in vitamin C) are great
in boosting the immunity and building the strength. They aid in detoxification
and are great for your lungs.
2. Steam Treatment
Steam inhalation is another one of the excellent remedies
for pneumonia that one can try. Just boil water in a pot and add any essential
oil like tea tree or eucalyptus oil into it. Inhale the steam and cover your
head so that the steam stays trapped and does not escape. Taking a steam bath
is also beneficial to deal with the tremors and fatigue that you feel.
3. Sesame Seeds
One of the natural remedies that pneumonia patients can try
is sesame seed concoction. Boil about a tablespoon each of sesame seeds and
flaxseeds in a cup of water. Once it is boiled, strain the mixture and add a
teaspoon of honey and a pinch of salt to it. Take this mixture on a daily
basis.
4. Garlic
Garlic is a natural remedy for pneumonia in adults since it
has anti-bacteria and antiviral properties. It helps bring down the body
temperature as well as clears the phlegm from the chest and lungs.
5. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper is a superb treatment for pneumonia. It helps
clear the mucus from the respiratory system. Mix cayenne pepper and lemon in
water and drink on a regular basis.
6. Black Pepper
Note – Do not take too much of black pepper.
7. Salt Water
Gargling with salt water at least twice a day will expel the
cough and unclog the respiratory tract. Salt water instantly soothes the
irritated throat.
8. Potassium Broth
Potassium is beneficial for people suffering from pneumonia.
It repairs the lung tissues. Just make a healthy broth my mixing and boiling
garlic, radish, carrots, celery, parsley, and water. Strain it. Take this
mixture on a daily basis.
Note – People who suffer from heart ailments should avoid
this remedy since too much potassium can be harmful to their health.
9. Apple Cider Vinegar
The healing properties of ACV make it a good remedy for
pneumonia. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of ACV in ½ glass of warm
water. Drink it throughout the day.
10. Lemon
Lemon has anti-bacterial properties and is an excellent
natural home remedy for pneumonia. Being rich in vitamin C, it reduces the
body’s temperature and boosts the immunity. Either add lemon zest to your meal
or just sprinkle some lemon juice on your salad.
11. Turmeric
The antiseptic and antifungal properties of turmeric help
fight bacteria and germs. Just take turmeric with milk or water. You can also
take it with a little bit of honey. Have it at least once in a day.
12. Oregano Oil
The vapors of oregano oil relieve the patients from
congestion and cough. You can also mix it with water or add it to your daily
juice to fight germs. Using this oil in your cooking is also advisable.
13. Mustard
Crush some mustard seeds. Mix the powder with a little
flour, water, and egg. Apply it to your chest to relieve the heaviness and
blockage.
14. Honey
Honey has antiseptic properties and is quite effective in
alleviating the discomfort caused by pneumonia. Take honey every day with
lukewarm water to get rid of the symptoms.
