Top 5 Foods That Can Lead To Inflammation

Study Author Susan Stek, PHD, MPH, RD, warns us that chronic low-grade inflammation can result in very serious health conditions including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and sometimes, can even cause death. The study also revealed the alarming point that people who eat foods that cause inflammation are four times more likely to die due to gastrointestinal tract cancer.

INFLAMMATORY FOODS TO AVOID


1. Refined Grains

There are a lot of fans of cookies, crackers, breads and other packaged foods out there but, a lot of people do not know how bad they can be for your health.

According to the researches done by the researchers at the University of Toronto, packaged foods can cause inflammation as they increase the levels of an inflammatory protein that is called plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1, also known as PAI-1. This causes inflammation that usually ends up causing type-2 diabetes.

2. Chinese Food

We all know that Chinese food contains MSG in it. Some Japanese researchers performed an experiment by injecting MSG into mice and as a result, found that MSG caused severe inflammation, obesity, liver diseases and type-2 diabetes.

Though it has been declared safe by FDA, but according to a study at University of North Calorina, people consuming more MSG (around 5g per day) have 33% more chances of gaining weight as compared to those consuming less MSG.

Keeping all these facts in mind, you should try not to eat Chinese food much. However, you can enjoy your favorite Chinese dishes occasionally if you are sure about the ingredients. MSG is a very common ingredient and is present in salads, sauces, soups and daily meals.

 

3. Red Meat

Red meat is full of saturated fats. According to the Australian researchers, this means that the effect of HDL (high-density lipoproteins) that are good cholesterols, is reduced, causing an increase in the blood pressure, imparities in the functioning of blood vessels and different heart diseases. However, this does not mean that you have to eliminate red meat from your diet.

4. Vegetable Oils

Vegetable oils are unsaturated and are used widely all over the world. However, they are not safe to be consumed at all. They contain Omega-6 fatty acids that are not good for your health.

According to a report by the researchers of University of Toronto, vegetable oils are highly inflammation causing and can result in serious heath related problems like coronary artery disease. You should switch to oils containing omega-3 fatty acids, for example canola oil, olive oil and coconut oil.

 

5. Soft Drinks

According to a Swiss study, people consuming about 2 cans of coke, had a remarkable increase in the levels of C-reactive protein. This means severe inflammation that is linked with heart diseases including heart attack and stroke.

The chances of these health issues are increased by 103% in 3 weeks.

These foods are very common and people eat them regularly without knowing how bad their effects are. You should limit or if possible avoid the consumption of all these foods and the other inflammation-causing foods as well.
